Deschutes Expo Center RV Park

The drive from Central Point (Ashland) to Redmond was a breeze. The roads were good. The scenery was interesting. Traffic did not reach an annoying level. We enjoyed it.

Cline Falls State Park

Found this gem by accident after driving through the outskirts of Redmond. Just wanted to see the Deschutes River, and Cline Falls is what we found.

Sisters

A charming little town with a slight Western and artsy touch. A little touristy, but not in a bad way. People are open, nice, and friendly. We sat in the bookstore for quite a while, learning more about Oregon. A good RV Park is close to town on RT 20. The Barn has good food and a pleasant atmosphere for just hanging out. Bicycling is a big thing here.

We can both imagine living just outside of Sisters.

We took the long way home from Sisters, driving on Holmes Rd heading towards Terrebonne. Rainshadow Organics Farm was a good find along the way. We chatted with a girl from the East Coast who works there. We will have to come back when they are open.

Then we found another park along the Deschutes River! It’s called Borden Beck Wildlife Preserve.

We also explored Crooked River. The valley there is spectacular, the RV Park is decent, but the community overall is not. No strong desire to stay there. The farms on the outskirts, though, are very nice and the houses on the rim have a fantastic view.

Terrebonne is nothing special.

Dry Canyon Trail

Dry Canyon is the largest park and right in the middle of Redmond. The nicely paved bicycle/walking path is just under 4 miles long. The park has many access points, play grounds, and other non-paved trails as well. Landscape is quite unique. The grassland-forest combination in the Northern part of the park was my favorite.

Bend

River Park, Marionberry Ice Cream

We found a fancy RV Resort in Southern Bend. We considered booking a few nights there when Jens and family visit. It looked and sounded so good when reading their website. Very large paved lots, big trees, a storage shed.
Before we booked, we stopped by and had a look. Very underwhelming. The neighborhood is not that great. The sites are nice, but definitely not worth the money they charge. There also is a lot of traffic to deal with going in and out of Bend. Who wants that on their vacation? We’ll skip that park.
